Running out of good original photos so I took the opportunity of a typical standoff between a small and large dog. The funny part of this fantasy fight was the little one saying come out and fight while hiding behind his master’s leg, not much, but it was light lunch entertainment for us.
We are starting to explore the end of the line as far as public transport is concerned. The last chance attempt at Everest did not fail, we aborted it, I hope you see the difference!!! When I was young and a poor student, meaning I didn’t study, it was easy to fail, I got used to it. But now I want to succeed so a bit of pressure, but knowing stress is very bad for Pd, I either come to terms with it, I try another way, or I accept it (abort it) and move on.
Corrie and I had a long discussion about it and decided it wasn’t worth the stress of the unknown and that’s a risk we weren’t willing to take. So what did we do? We caught a bus to as far as the bus goes, because that was only another 20 kms, and we discovered a slice of heaven (that’s for our blog in two days’ time, so look out for it)!!! We did what we usually don’t do and that was to knock on accomodation doors, and our first knock was a reasonable price, lovely people, a dog that liked us, they all love Corrie, and we booked enough nights to take us up to Munich where we might have a more intellectual discussion, or at least one for the arts.
So we have this exciting hidden valley to share with our bikers who climbed (well we hope so) the 2000 metre one we couldn’t, or rather I couldn’t. The tourist line ends here and not many people go where we will be going on Friday. We don’t know our bike riders very well but will know them a bit better tomorrow when we discuss paradise with them.
By the way some poor PR to report. Our train arrived half an hour late this morning. They said it was a technical fault, but don’t they always. I know in Sydney I’ve heard from reliable sources that the reason most trains don’t turn up on time in the morning is because many drivers report in sick. I’ve also heard that the reason many pilots don’t turn up for work is because they have so much free time that they do their own house repairs. This involves ladders which they fall off. I think I also may have too much free time on my hands writing this stuff so see you tomorrow if you’re still reading.
,
Love how you manifested the accommodation, guys! Enjoy your days there. Sounds beautiful.
And we don’t usually do it that way, because Corrie uses booking.com most of the time. Yes we will enjoy Anne
Dear W&C
Great news about the so important part of your adventures: accommodation!!
[courtesy of google: The name Lenggries is closely connected to the river that it was built on – it refers to the extensive limestone gravel and shingle banks brought down from the mountains by the water.]
the pics are great and that peak is inviting but too high? I see that you’re already a bit over 600M in Lenggries.
Will you get another train anywhere or do the trains go too high from now on? It looks so fascinating, it must be something else to see those peaks.
I’ll follow as long as your journey is….
– don’t want to miss your blogs they have such interesting little stories and anecdotes!
You’d think that pilots would have a better sense of staying on a ladder with all that flying experience, but maybe internally they’re still flying and just fly off into the air…
– how could one want to not read on!
Also, your references and mentions of things means I google them, and then there are so many things to read about like the cathedrals which have so much art, beauty and development history, and the mountains which are also full of history,.
Then there are those stories about, for instance, those dogs, which you describe very entertainingly.
love and wonderful walking to you both
Thanks for your lengthy post Ruth
That’s it Ruth, same as in the Himalayas where those rocks are also washed down!
No trains don’t go high enough.
Love your pilot quip
I’ll send you a photo of a small church and its ceiling in Bad Tolz by email, it is high on a hill and has about ten ways to get there
Hi Will & Corrie
