The Dutch girls were the first we met on track
Cemented friends once we had smashed our wine,
Another Dutch, she rarely saw our back
We wished, with her, that we had spent more time.
The Belgian couple, young and full of life
Dismayed her troubled foot caused endless pain,
And then there was the bargeman and his wife
These Dutch had paused to chat between the rain.
Another pearl, she was our final host
Mi-la was so much fun beyond belief,
That she was real not just a friendly ghost
To have her there, was such a great relief.
At least one pearl we found amongst the shells
That’s why that great cathedral rings its bells.
Congratulations Will and Coralie – another Camino milestone achieved! You both are an inspiration to the rest of us, who followed your adventures on the blog. Give St James a hug for me!
Love and good wishes, Yvonne
Thank you for this poem Will. So descriptive.
What another amazing and inspiring trip for the both of you. I loved the honesty of your journey and lessons learned. Every time I read about the Camino, my heart goes back to Spain. Hope you are now doing more resting than walking. Look forward to seeing you both back in OZ. You were very wise to avoid the election campaign—it’s dreadful.
Much love
Chris
Thanks Chris, lovely to hear from you. Yes,
I had a yearning for the Spanish one when I saw them all staggering up the last hill into the square. We continued our memories by staying in the same accommodation that we had last time. We’re in Porto now heading down to Faro for the first time,
